Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar with his folk-based pop songs most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Deutschedorf at Roswell located in the state of New Mexico,, was in love with Colorado. The place he settled was Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said it was because John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. In 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's first inductee. Today he personifies the state to people around the world. If you travel with me, you are likely to meet people from opposite sides of the world. Like, for instance, someone who is from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're Colorado-based, Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career in folk groups, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff composed the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized the track could become a hit single. Danoff recorded the track within a couple of days following a performance to an enthusiastic audience in Washington D.C.
